Lemons are great for your health, because of their low sugar content and high alkaline mineral content. When converted in the body, alkaline can help boost your immune system and provide you with added energy and vitality. While charcoal may not seem like an appetizing ingredient on the surface, it is becoming increasingly popular for its detoxifying effects and digestive benefits. Check out this simple recipe for a refreshing, new take on lemonade.
- 1 – 16.9 oz. bottle of spring water
- 1 medium sized lemon (organic, of course)
- 1-2 capsules of activated charcoal
- Dash of Himalayan salt
- Fresh rosemary and thyme
Juice the lemon and combine with the water. Add the salt and herbs. Mix in the charcoal. Chill.
You can add a tablespoon or two of grade B maple syrup if you want a little sweetness.
Obviously, a healthy dose of veggies in a juice mixture is nothing new, but what sets this particular recipe apart is its addition of apple cider vinegar. By adding vinegar with a host of nutrient-rich vegetables, this bizarre combination provides a number of benefits for the whole body and promotes many healing properties.
- 2 large tomatoes or 1 to 1/2 cup tomato juice
- 1-2 handfuls of baby spinach or kale
- 1 stalk celery
- Fresh parsley and basil
- Pinch Himalayan salt
- 1-2 Tbs. raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar
Run all vegetables and herbs through your juicer. Add the salt and apple cider vinegar. Blend well. Chill and enjoy.
Add a few drops of hot sauce for a nice kick.
Dandelion root has a long history of natural, therapeutic uses and this sweet green juice is chock full of other goodies to help detoxify your system. Whether you steep dry the dandelion root to make a strong tea or pick it fresh to run through your juicer, this unique ingredient will provide your body the boost it needs.
- 1 cup strong dandelion tea (or a handful of fresh dandelion root)
- ½ cup mango (fresh or frozen)
- 2 generous handfuls of fresh baby spinach
- Pineapple (adjust to taste)
- ¼ cup berries if desired
Make the tea and set aside, covered, to steep. Juice the mango, spinach, pineapple and berries (in a juicer or blender). Combine with the tea. Chill and enjoy.
If you find the tea a little too strong, add some raw, unfiltered honey or blend in a small, ripe banana.
Nettle tea is the star in this uncommon juice recipe, and for good reason. Nettle is a natural antihistamine that has shown to relieve minor aches and pains and boost the immune system. Combine those benefits with the healing properties of raw, unfiltered honey and the natural anti-inflammatory bromelain found in pineapple juice, and this mixture is ideal for reducing stress and promoting relaxation.
- 1 cup nettle tea
- 1 Tbsp. raw, unfiltered honey
- ½ cup pineapple
- ¼ cup blueberries
Brew the nettle tea and set aside to steep. Juice the pineapple and blueberries (in a juicer or a blender), combine with the tea. Add the honey. Drink hot or cold.
If you want a little substance to your drink, blend in a small, ripe banana.
A pinch of cayenne will open your sinuses allowing you to breathe easier.
